Transforming a Luxury Hotel: Steel and Glass Balustrade Installation in the Cotswolds
At Riteweld Engineering, we recently completed a standout project for a luxury hotel in the heart of the Cotswolds. The brief was clear: deliver high-quality internal and external balustrades that enhance both form and function. Our team delivered a bespoke solution using premium materials, combining modern steelwork with natural timber features.
Project Overview
The hotel needed a staircase balustrade inside and an external structural balustrade outside. Inside, we installed a custom-fabricated steel balustrade, powder-coated for durability, topped with smooth oak handrails. This created a clean, modern finish that still felt warm and inviting—perfect for a high-end interior.
Outside, the challenge was to blend durability with architectural elegance. We installed a structural glass balustrade, paired with a glulam timber structure and Canadian Red Cedar slatted screening. This design offered strong weather resistance while maintaining a contemporary aesthetic that aligned with the hotel’s luxury feel.
Materials and Craftsmanship
Every component was fabricated in-house at our Banbury facility. Our team used CE-marked steel, precision engineering, and high-grade timber to ensure long-term performance. The combination of galvanised steel and timber allowed for maximum durability with minimal maintenance. The use of natural materials like oak and cedar added warmth and texture to the modern lines of the steel and glass.
Installation Process
Working on a live hotel site required strict coordination and attention to detail. We scheduled all work to minimise disruption to guests and staff. The internal steel balustrade was carefully installed to match the curve of the staircase, while the external components were positioned to follow the layout of the terrace.

The completed project speaks for itself. The staircase now features a seamless blend of steel strength and timber elegance. Outside, the glass and wood elements offer a sophisticated finish, enhancing the hotel’s exterior space.
